In the era of pirates, curses, treasures, kingdoms, and nobles, Rachel Altham, captain of the exquisite pirate ship Ethereal and the infamously legendary Pirate Queen feared by all, has cross swords with the famous and deeply respected general of the powerful kingdom of Vefriece, Eduardo Griffith.
Two people with two opposite lives and ambitions have met with fate playing with them in its fingers. Due to unspeakable events they must complete a rescue mission with the both of them having no choice but to work with one another.

By delving further into each other's life, they soon have a fate waiting for them that the both of them have least anticipated.

"Do you remember calling me 'mate?'" he asked softly, pushing her wild curls away from her face. She blushed deeply, but he wouldn't let her look away. "You heard that?" He nodded with a smile. "It was the first thought she ever shared with me." Skylar pursed her lips. "She likes you very much." "What about you?" he teased gently. "How do you feel about me?" She set her jaw and once again managed to look down her nose at him while staring up at him. "Well... well, I'm rather fond of you, Orion." He let out a relieved laugh and pulled her into his chest again. "What a relief. I was worried it was just me." He nuzzled her temple, inhaling deeply, his dragon fully at peace. The words "I love you" were right on the tip of his tongue, but he knew it was too soon for that. He would have to hold them in just a little while longer. "I'm fond of you, too," he whispered in her ear. <><><><><><><><> Skylar lived her life in fear. Fear of exposure, fear of herself, and fear of her future. As a princess and heir to the kingdom, her future was daunting enough. The fact that she turned into dragon and would be killed if anyone found out made it all the worse. When a fellow king discovers her secret, she is forced to flee or put her entire family in danger. When she meets Orion, the Alpha of a dragon clan, he helps open up a whole new world to her. In this new world, Skylar discovers who she is supposed to be and what she's been hiding from. She finds the beauty of her beast and a love she only ever dreamed of. But then her new world is threatened. It becomes a matter of kill or be killed, so Skylar's new family, with the help of her old, must rise to the challenge to defeat this threat. Or risk the extinction of her kind.

After a short yet bloody war, the kingdom is saved by a treaty-- at the expense of its accidental prince, Artemys Eve. Forced into marriage with the man that caused his mother's death, Artemys must learn how to survive in a brand new world with responsibilities he's never had before. For the first time in his life, people are relying on him. ________ "You must hate me," the evil king sighed, setting his offering down on the table beside him. "I know that these minor gifts and luxuries I offer to you cannot soothe your feelings toward me, but I hope that you will at least find some comfort in these walls." I shook my head and let my gaze fall to the hands in my lap. They were to exhausted to speak for me anymore. All I could do was stay quiet and obedient, the way I imagined my sister would have if she were in my position-- hoping to assuage his disappointment in my lackluster reaction to his gesture. But it didn't. "I'm sorry. I'll go," the evil king relented nervously. He turned to leave, and the thought of being alone suddenly ached inside me. I reached out and clasped both my hands around his single, brutish, course gigantic hand. He caught them and held them gently, looking me over as at stared at him wildly for a moment. I swallowed and withdrew one of my hands. "I don't know what I want," I admitted slowly. My hand clenched for a moment, then, I continue, "but I don't want to be alone." "As you wish."
