"Looks like you're stuck with me" his voice made my muscles tighten and I cringed at the thought of having to spend the night.  "No, Lucas, I can drive myself home".  "Are you crazy? In this weather? No matter how much you hate me I could never let you outside. If something happened to you I could never forgive myself..." his voice trailed off as he evaluated the mess he had made.
