Shizuo is from Spain. When his parents have got a new, excellent job he has no option but moves to America.
The problem is... Shizuo knows no English.
Izaya is Japanese, but he learns languages pretty quickly. He knows English, but not much Spanish. When the two meet, Shizuo is having trouble communicating, so Izaya somehow gets him to understand what he's saying. He says, "I'll teach you English."
