this story starts in 1780, at a winters ball. peggy schuyler, the youngest sister, was overlooked at the ball.

her sisters, both infatuated by a certain alexander hamilton had left her alone that night. then she struck up conversation the the marquis de layfayette. they talked late into the night, making it outside at one point, until a friend of the marquis, john laurens, came looking for him.

laurens instantly became enraptured in the beauty of the youngest schuyler sister, stuttering until lafayette realized what was happening, and begrudgingly left them alone. he met up later with angelica schuyler, who was suffering a similar situation over hamilton and the middle sister, eliza.
