In the kingdom of Dochas, a pair of twins were born into royalty. As they grow older, everyone distances themselves from the pair and leaves them to be alone together.
As they grow into adults, Aisling, the young princess, becomes a nurse and eventually a doctor; trying her best to make her people love her. While her twin, Aoibhnas, becomes a Defender and claims the people's hearts with stories of bravery and heroics.
But what happens when Aisling loses the one thing she thought she'd have forever by her side? When she slips into madness, who will be there to guide her back into her sanity? With a war rushing onto their shores, and a young, powerful princess on the edge of darkness, who will be there to save the kingdom?
