Vampires have been portrayed in media for hundreds of years, morphing from bloodthirsty monsters into the ultimate sexual object. Though they are few and far between, vampires are still around.

Ashton knows better than anyone what it's like to stand out, even from his own pack. He always knew he was vaguely different, not that it had ever bothered him or was ever his problem. Ashton didn't fully understand the intolerance that set him apart from the others. Maybe the seriousness was low, and certainly tolerable, but it was just one more problem to deal with.
