Thirteen-year old Squires Lancelot and Gwaine dropped Merlin off at a safe place. They began their journey back to their kingdom but were attacked by bandits. Gwaine was kidnapped and Lancelot was left for dead, badly injured and unconscious. Luckily, he was taken and healed by druids. They both got word that their kingdom was taken over. Gwaine spent the next nine years wandering, believing that his friend was dead. Merlin didn't see either of them for another nine years... in Camelot.
