"Re-Rene-san...?"
The said brunet turned his head slightly, arms propped over his knees as he sat down next to the younger. The adult's tattered fedora shadowed his brown eyes as he gazed at the child.
"Mm? What is it, Izuku-kun?"
The green-haired child rubbed at his puffy eyes feverishly, looking up with teary irises, his lower lip trembling.
"Do you...d-do you think...that I can become a hero?"
Rene looked surprised for a second before his expression became neutral. Brown gazed into green eyes thoughtfully. Rene hummed before sighing.
"No."
Midoriya felt crushed and he ducked his head down, trying to smile.
"O-Oh...."
Suddenly, the child felt fingers wrap around his shoulder and he was brought into a one-armed hug. Rene flipped his fedora off of his head with his free hand before stuffing it onto Izuku's head, smiling gently.
"Because I know you'll be something even greater."
Izuku felt his eyes flood with tears as he tilted the fedora out of his line of sight to look up at Rene.
"Y-You...really think so?"
Rene chuckled, his usually dull eyes lit with genuine joy.
"I know so." He replied softly.

Prologue When Katsuki was 4 he was playing by himself on a log over a shallow river, he used to go to this particular place with his parents all the time a few months ago, but after his father died he seemed to be going alone and this caused him to believe that his mother didn't love him anymore. She seem to never have time for him anymore. He wasn't watching where he was going and slipped on something, as he fell downwards his instincts kicked in and he screamed. All of a sudden he felt arms pulling him in towards something. he looked up and saw an older boy. He had green hair with equally green eyes. "you need to be careful there Kacchan." said the boy with a kind smile. Katsuki turned red in embarrassment. "who are you? and why did you save me? heroes don't need help from anyone!! and don't call me that!!" Yelled the 4 year old. "My name is Izuku and I'm your new friend." Said the boy with another smile as he landed softly on the ground infront of Katsuki's house. "really?!" Asked the child as he was set down. the older nodded as he stretched. "just come to the clearing with the flowers near the lake and we'll play there." said the greenette. Katsuki looked at him and thought about it. his mother had thought him to not go off with strangers, but there was something about him that made Katsuki want to be around him so he did something that would almost sound like Stockholm syndrome to any sane person. "when?" He asked and he saw a wide grin on Izuku's face. "Oh would you look at the time...Kacchan, it's time for you to wake up, but don't worry. Well see each other soon." Said Izuku as he ruffled Katsuki's hair and disappeared.

Lying there, trembling, was a bat. Not a normal one-its fur shimmered like starlight at midnight, and nestled in its face were two crystal-violet eyes that watched him with a strange dignity... and exhaustion. A thin cut bled along her wing. Izuku's heart lurched. "You're hurt! I-I can fix that! I promise, I'll help!" It was absurd. It was earnest. It was Izuku. He peeled off his All Might notebook sticker and pressed it over the wound like a tiny bandage. The bat twitched. Then... leaned into his fingers. "You're so pretty," Izuku murmured softly. "Your eyes are like amethyst. I'll call you Murasaki. Mura for short." The bat blinked, as though startled by his tenderness. And in some distant realm of stone thrones, bloodline power, and phoenix fire, a king roared in fury, his daughter lost to the mortal world, her magic bound in a spell of exile.
