Isabella - She lives in her village, Malum, with her mother. They are both servants of Lady Sophie. Until a small group of people show up at their doorstep and changes her world forever. Selena - She has spent her whole life in Spero, a place filled with Novi. Her mother and father both died when she was younger. They caught Mors, a disease spread by Exitium. When her parents passed she awoke to her powers.

Knox - He watched as his parents were murdered in front of him when he was younger by members of Exitium. He vowed he would never let that happen to anyone else, so he joined the guard academy and graduated top of his class. He was assigned to Spero and quickly rose to head guard.

Eric - He has lived his whole life in Spero and has a good life. No tragedies, no nothing really. He went to the guard academy and came back to be a guard for Spero like his dad was. He came back to find his dad had passed peacefully in his sleep of natural causes, but his mother was still alive
