At first, there was silence.
Then everything erupted.

Astraia knew she had to leave. After everything that had happened, it was inevitable. Yet, it still left a hole in her heart larger than anything had before. It left a gaping sorrow deep in her stomach, spreading through her soul.
With a final glance towards the village she once knew as home, the young fae turned and ran to the beyond.
-
Kacen stared into the mirror, shaking his head. As temporary High Lord of the Night Court, he felt the urge now more than ever to break his own reflection. In what world do someone's parents leave their only child to man an entire court whilst they aid fully-capable fae from across the sea? "A test" as his father said, with a knowing smirk beside his mother's worried glance. Not only was it a test of if he could handle it, but it was a mere excuse for his family to go off and relive the "old days".
Nevertheless, he couldn't stop the shaking as he stepped into the hallway, beginning his first day as High Lord of the Night Court.

*may contain acowar spoilers* Hi everyone! This is my first fan fic (ever haha) and it takes place way after acowar. Feyre and Rhysand have had their child, Kacen, who is now 21 years old, and in charge of the Night Court as his parents went off to help Miryam and Drakon. In this story, he'll meet a girl named Astraia, who is 19 years old and possessing power of her own. This is based off of the brilliant "A Court of Thorns and Roses" series by Sarah J. Maas. I've added elements of my own into the story, such as characters I've created and other little touches, but as for the world, some characters and most other things, all credit goes to Sarah.
"You're different from what I expected," she said softly.
"How so?" he asked, glancing at her.
"I don't know," she replied, searching for the right words. "You just... have this way of making people feel like they matter. Even here, in this... nightmare."
He was quiet for a moment before responding. "You matter, Y/n. Don't forget that."
OR
Y/n wakes up in the deadly Squid Game, surrounded by strangers and fighting to survive. What she doesn't know is that the mysterious Frontman is watching her every move through the cameras- and she's caught his attention.
