Leafless branches tore hungrily at my scaly hide as I race after my next meal. My eyes stuck to the white blur in front of me as I focused solely on my prey, a familiar ache tore through my stomach at the thought of food. It was mid winter and I was unable to find any fruit to satisfy my hunger. My black, gold and white hide made it almost impossible to hunt in the pure snow, so when the chance for a decent meal arose I was sure to take hold of it with both paws.
As we twisted through the now startlingly silent forest the only sound is of the crunch of snow and my panting breath. I failed to notice the fact the strange scent from earlier had gotten stronger as well as the large shadows that crisscrossed our path.All Rights Reserved

The electricity is out, the phones don't work, no running water, no cars, no radio...nothing. It's dangerous to go into towns now, survivors are scared, starving and dying by the thousands, but their bodies seem to just disappear. Sometimes I hear screams in the night that sound like they come straight from the depths of Hell, and the scent of sulphur and rot rides on the breeze when the heaviest clouds block out the sun. I think it's the thing that got Dan...the thing that's almost gotten me. Whatever it is, it's completely unnatural and I just know I have to stay ahead of it or I'll be just as dead as Dan is.

Before I could even stand up fully, the snow under my legs crumble before my eyes. Holy fuck. The snow is coming loose and is avalanching. I already feel my body fall backwards as the ground under me disappears. I look up at my sister whose face has morphed into shock. My body feels as light as a feather. This is the end for me I know it. I brace my self for deadly impact, but it never comes.. A bright light flashes as everything around me goes white. I wake up to be laying in soft snow with my rucksack on top of me. My head spun as I sat up. I look around and all I see are large trees. In fact, these trees look larger than any i've ever seen in my life, which includes the ones on Animal Planet. Where the hell am I? I look up at the sky and I see two suns? Did I get a concussion? COMPLETED STORY The agony is like nothing I have ever felt before, I slide in and out of consciousness, I feel the strange sway of the two legged's walk as I am being carried through the woods, I wish to call out to my mate but I am weakened by the torments cast upon me. I have been laid down in the cold snow and my tormenter is digging in the frozen earth, I once again lose consciousness. The next time my eyes flutter open I have cold snow mixed with frozen dirt being thrown on my throbbing frame. I'm not sure what is going on. I'm freezing, hurt, and confused. I rouse to strange smells that are new to me, I'm colder than ever and something is definitely missing. I attempt to stand but immediately fall onto a fur covered ground, wait, fur... Where is my fur?!? Where did my tail go? Why do my paws look bare and have moving sticks coming out of them? Who stretched my legs out? What in tarnation happened to my fur? I guess that would explain why I'm cold. I begin to take in my surroundings, I am in a dead tree shelter but it looks completely different, there is a fire crackling near me but it does little to warm my bare skin, I'm startled by the sound of laughter, I look over and see a two legged is staring at me with a hint of humor in his eye. "You are very confused. I found you almost dead in a non descent grave. You were shot and bruised. I brought you here and made some... changes. It was the only way I could save you." The stranger explains. I don't really understand what he is saying, all I know is I want my fur back.
