My mother was being killed by three soulless. I stabbed one that was attacking me and it's black blood splattered over me. My dad was on the ground lying dead, the soulless had already gotten to him. I stabbed another. It dropped to the floor in pain. They were trying to kill us but I couldn't see it in pain. I stabbed its heart. "I love you." Were the last words of my mother. She gave up. I watched as she cried as they tore her apart one by one. "No!" I screamed as I viciously stabbed the last soulless. "Erica! Stacey! Run!" I heard Aunt Amara scream. I took one last look at my parents and ran into the wood. I looked back and saw Erica running behind me. I heard a scream from Uncle Jimmy and knew he was dead, or turning. Then a scream from Aunt Amara. I knew she was dead too. When I was ten my mom explained what her life was like during the soulless outbreak, I knew it was going to happen, but I still can't believe it did.

Gnarly roots dip into ground and twisted branches reach down, fingers grasping the air, as if reaching for me and I shiver, thinking of my father. He sighed again before trying again and I tired to put all my fears away as he once again reached out his hand. I put my head down, hoping that if I couldn't see him, I wouldn't be scared. As I felt his hand on my back and felt tingles explode, I jumped but then relaxed as I got used to it.
