In return for her power over the sea, Thranduil promised to retrieve her mother's stolen jewels from The Lonely Mountain. However, Thranduil has other interests in mind. He intends to use her power to strengthen his own kingdom. Unaware of his plan, Alphen slowly falls in love. Her loyalty is divided. Will she choose her brother and home or her new love?

I absolutely loved their chemistry in the Hobbit and this is my first fanfic. I tried to keep the characters as close to the movie versions as I could (since Tauriel only appears in the movies and Thranduil's personality is only vaguely presented in the books).
