The world shook the day the music died, and the face of rock 'n' roll hasn't been the same ever since. Even in 1968, Paul McCartney still couldn't quite imagine the full magnitude of the tragedy - how could Buddy Holly, so full of life and with so much more music left to make, be gone, just like that?

Plenty had changed since 1959. Paul was no longer a longing teenager, but a wildly successful member of the Beatles. One night, as he was struggling to work on new material, Paul was reminded of just how much the Beatles owed to the bright young Texan boy, with his famous glasses and Stratocaster, whose life was taken far too soon. If only he could have told Buddy, his hero, how much he had done for him.

Suddenly, Paul awakens to find himself in 1958, still the same full-grown man he was ten years later. He comes face-to-face with Buddy himself and all of his other heroes. As he gets to know them all, he must reevaluate himself and what he thought he knew. But, when the opportunity presents itself, Paul begins to wonder... Could he stop Buddy from getting on that plane?

TRIGGER WARNING: contains drug/alcohol use and NSFW content. Inspired by the movie, "Two of Us (2000)" ====================================== "You don't look different, but you have changed. I'm looking through you; you're not the same." The year is 1976 and the Beatles were a legendary band of the past. Old news, even. A distant memory that, at one point in time, took the entire world by storm. But that was years and years ago... Since, the band has gone through a pretty bitter break up. Though, memories don't fade away so easy. Paul McCartney knew that better than anyone else. Paul notices himself thinking back on old times more often than ever before. Dwelling on the unresolved problems between himself and the others... Well, the problems he has with one person in particular. John Lennon. Paul wants to repair the apparent issues left behind him with his ex-partner... his ex-lover, and it's no secret to anybody in his "new" life. One day, even his wife, Linda, suggests to Paul that he should go and visit the lad in New York City. So? What else is he to do, but... make a surprise trip? The rest of this story lies between these pages. ====================================== - Completed - Ranked #1 in the Mclennon tag and #1 in Starrison - Pretty Angsty - Disclaimer: Some quotes used in this story are paraphrased/referenced from the original "Two of Us (2000)" movie. I'll Cry Instead

35 parts Complete

There was the mob, all reaching and grabbing at something on the ground. Several of them were screaming bloody murder (due to the excitement of the fallen Beatle or because they were being pushed and shoved was unknown). "Paul McCartney! It's him!" they shrieked in utter amazement as they ripped at his hair and his clothes.... The year is 1964, and The Beatles have made it big...maybe a little too big, for, everywhere they go, they're ambushed by fan girls. Usually, the lads from Liverpool are quicker than the crowd, but, one day, the fans happen to grab a hold of none other than The Beatles' bassist, Paul McCartney, effectively beating his body and mind to a pulp. This angst/hurt comfort story tells the tale of Paul McCartney, who has been scarred by the brutality of his attack, and his three friends, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, who are trying their best to help Paul and his paranoid state of mind. Will the three friends help Paul? Or will they only make his situation worse? If so, will Paul go so far as to quit being a Beatle? Read "I'll Cry Instead" to find out! Inspired by a story on Fanfiction.net called "Stage Fright." Do give that one a read, if you have the chance.
