He ran away from his magical kingdom and sent himself to Earth, meeting someone named Aliva, who claims to know his 'secret'.  
 
Aliva Bailey Cooper is the 'oddest human' Declan has ever encountered in Earth. Despite her amusing boldness and interesting imagination, the girl is pretty smart. She helps Declan deal with problems Earth gives him (Math, for example) while Declan continues hiding from his family.

But what happens when his family finds him? How long will it take for him to stay in Earth? What happens when he gets too attached to the planet? What if the Amagadz get to him first?

Most importantly, what will happen to Aliva?
