Social Anxiety is so much more than just shyness Social Anxiety makes you feel different from other people, in a negative way - less good than them, or odd - and so it comes to affect your self-esteem as well as your self-confidence. You come to expect that people will ignore or reject you and tend to interpret the things that they do, like the way they look at you or speak to you, as signs that they think badly of you. You feel at risk of being on the receiving end.
