There are two people with interesting pasts that made them believe that having a close friendship was impossible. When something bad happens in a lab that made him lose a close friendship, a boy believes there will be no other person the same as his friend. And when a back and forth move between cities makes her lose contact with a close friend, a girl believes there will be no other person who has the same sense of adventure that she has. In a story of friendship and discovery, two people with a mutual interest in the stars figure out the truth behind all the happenings and where their old friends have gone. An Unexpected Moment
... that changes everything Sarah was starting her junior year of high school. Looking at herself in the mirror, she saw a pretty average blonde haired, blue eyed, teenager. She was neither in the popular group, nor one of the many cliched outsiders. Sarah was a nobody. She liked to blend in and lay low. It was her way out of not only this town, but her house. No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote. As I transcribe it here, I have tried to update it a bit and give the characters/story more depth than what I had when I was younger. Hopefully it all gets pulled together!Complete

Maintaining a balance of grades and producing comebacks with sarcasm dripping from each word isn't the only talent she possesses. Enter Aaron Pelt, the most popular boy at Gradient High. Girls fawn over him. Well, who wouldn't? He's the star soccer player, after all. With the looks no less than a model, he has no problem maintaining his status on the social ladder. He maintains a cool aura around him all the time. They both go to Gradient High, a school that is divided into two social groups: the popular ones and the nerds. The popular ones are the wealthy snobs and the nerds are the ones who practically are their slaves. At Gradient High, these two groups can never get along! Like Ever! But who knew that the most popular guy and the nerd would actually be best friends? That's right! Alyssa and Aaron have been best friends since their diaper days. But at school, they are forced not to acknowledge each other's presence because if they did, Aaron's reputation might suffer and Alyssa may be subjected to something she hates the most: attention. While Aaron may not know, the reason why Alyssa hates attention might be even more than she lets him believe. A reason that might even force her to throw away her future dream. So will Aaron be able to break through the walls and push her out even when he has the pressure of popularity and the school status weighing him down? Get ready to expect the unexpected. But that's just fine. Embracing this peculiar weapon, I, Narwhal-station drifter, low-rank mercenary, and certified expert in staying out of trouble-have a dream. A dream of living simply. With my powers, I could challenge warlords, take on high-risk contracts, and shape the galaxy with secret knowledge. But I won't. Work moderately, survive well-that's the ideal life in the void! Small-time guild jobs. The occasional space hunt. Food that doesn't taste like recycled rations. If I can be of some use along the way? Good enough. This is the tale of a man drifting through the stars, clinging to a blaster that never excels in any one area... and an adventure that avoids too much adventure.

Fade is on an elevator in space, and he doesn't know how he got there. The last thing he remembers is stumbling out of his 2023 grad party. He's a trainweck of a human with zero skills or talents, and it's very clear he has no business being in space, or in an elevator full of heavily armed people. As it turns out, they're professional space cleaners responsible for removing space problems. They've all been given a mission to figure out why a research station went dark. Fade is informed that yes, he is part of the team, and actually, he's the guy in charge!
