18 year old Marco Diaz's life up until that fateful financial management class could be described as average, typical, or even boring. He's never had a romantic partner, never kissed a girl, and enjoys organization and order.
Marco's life is turned upside-down when Star Butterfly, a foreign exchange student, is thrown into his life.
Star is the exact opposite of what Marco is used to-- she's outgoing, loud, clumsy, oblivious to the world around her, and quite mysterious. Marco has many questions for the girl but she gives very vauge answers. Where is Mewni and why hasnt Marco heard of it? Why does Star have a hidden safe in the floorboards of her apartment, and what's inside? And what about the two identical heart-shaped birthmarks on Star's cheeks? Marco promises himself that he will crack the case and solve the mystery that is Star Butterfly.
