I was falling. I had been falling for eternity. No end, no beginning. Just darkness. And then, a soft chirping sound reached my ears, echoed through the darkness. Trees rustled in the distance, but I couldn't see. I moved my arms around, trying to feel. Nothing. A sob came out of me. And another. And another. Until I was crying, shoulders quivering. And then panic settled. First slow and then hard and fast. What is happening to me?

One second that is all it takes to know something is wrong. It is that one second that the heart stops beating and the mind goes into a state of panic! What happened, you might ask?
