No one knows exactly what happened  to cause The Collapse, humanity soon reverted back to it's most basic state with no laws being enforced. Some used it as an excuse to loot and kill. Others formed communities to try to whether The Collapse as a group.  Daniel was part of the exception, going from group to group.
