They made every maiden do a test this year, which is uncalled for because it's the first time in history. It involved all sorts of heinous things like dancing, book balancing, Kingdom Knowledge, etc. Why was the test was important? No one knew. I suppose it was another way for society to judge you but then again when have I ever cared about society? All I knew was you had to impress and bring honour to your family. I suppose the test isn't what bothers me the most. I, Arianna Sofia Irving, have qualified to be one of the highest scorers. The 'prize' is the engagement to Prince Christopher. He gets to choose his bride meaning I don't have a choice in this atrocity. And he LIKES me, that's the worst part. I can't let him choose me... there's no way that I will become Arianna The First.

Arianna Daniel's life had always been defined by her frailty. Born into a noble family, she was the weakest of her siblings, often falling ill and struggling to keep up with her relatives' robust health. Despite her delicate constitution, Arianna's spirit remained unbroken, and she learned to adapt to her limitations. But Arianna's world was about to take a drastic turn. On her 22nd birthday, she received the news that would change her life forever: she was to be married to Chris Thomas, the powerful Duke of a vast and wealthy duchy. Popularly called..."The Devil" Chris was a man feared by all who knew him. His reputation was shrouded in darkness, and whispers of his ruthless nature sent shivers down the spines of even the bravest men. His previous wives had disappeared under mysterious circumstances, fueling rumors of murder, imprisonment, and even darker fates. And yet, despite the terror he inspired, many women and ladies of the court would give anything to be his wife, even if only for a day. They were drawn to his physical appearance, power, his wealth, and his enigmatic presence. Chris resided in the grandest castle and estate in the land, a sprawling complex that dwarfed even the king's own palace. His home was a symbol of his power, a testament to his unyielding ambition. But it was said that Chris's heart was colder than the stone walls of his estate. He was a man without emotions, without compassion, and without mercy. Those who crossed him were dealt with swiftly and severely, never to be seen again. As Arianna stood before her parents, accepting the news of her betrothal with a mix of trepidation and resignation, she couldn't help but wonder: what lay ahead for her in the dark, foreboding world of the Duke?
