Carter was born with an eye disease that has a 99% mortality rate and isn't expected to life past age 5. Now 18 he lives life as a college student with his best friend Shayne and girlfriend Melanie. Life changes fast when Carter meets a Shadow for the first time, a person possessed by a demonic power with all black eyes. Carter witnesses the Shadow burning down the science building with his bare hands. He sprints passed and meets eyes with it. Carter rushes in to help people still trapped inside and immediately feels his eyes begin to burn. Carter doesn't consider why the flames don't hurt him but just wants to get the people out. When he arrives home, he looks at himself in the mirror and notices something. Not his tattered clothing or ash covered face, but his irises. They are a deep red, exactly as the flames he had just left behind. Little did he know , his eye disease is actually the manifestation of a power that many human bodies simply can't contain, except for his. The Shadows know this now, and they'll be coming for him. His only chance is to learn to control this newfound power in order to protect himself, his friends and the world from the sickening plots of O.C.U.L.I and their creations ,the Shadows.
