Pale light from the red moon seeped into the council chamber through the shattered windows, the great tapestries were all aflame and the ground was scorched. Looking around at the dead bodies he was ashamed of one in particular by the royal chamber doors a young man that had died defending the kings daughter. "I'm sorry I ever doubted you. You would've made a fine king someday." The king said. Looking down at the last foe, a diminutive figure in the middle of the chamber the king hefted his broadsword and charged uttering a barbaric howl, the king seemed to double in height and appeared more bear-like than man. He struck the man down smirking at his next words saying "don't poke the bear and you won't get the claws." Turning around he saw his daughter crying over the limp body of the man who'd saved her.

"No you can't die now! You promised to protect me!" She sobbed. "How do you plan to do that if your dead?" She kissed the man who saved her life and pulled him closer

Kneeling beside his daughter he put his arm around her he said. "If not for him it would be you lying there dead and I've got the felling he'll still be watching over and protecting you wherever his spirit may have gone." Helping her to stand he then picked up the young mans limp body and carried him over to the throne and set him down upon it. "It would've been nice to see him upon the throne under different circumstances but we need to go find the others."

"What was it like when you lost mom?" The king's daughter asked.

"Let us just say it was a time of Dark Thoughts." The king said his face growing dark and somber.
