My Father always told me of his dreams of enlisting in the American Military force. But when he chose to raise a family at a later age, his dreams were dashed and all he could do now was protect his kin by weaving stories of make believe for my childish ears to hear and enjoy. He protected me from the pain of the world for the longest time, but he couldn’t stop me from hearing about the start of WW1. And He couldn’t stop me from enlisting in it. I had to protect my father seeing as he was too old to actually join the army himself, so I bound my chest, cut my hair off and took his place under his name. When I stepped on the battlefield for the first time, I was taken by surprise. I hadn’t been expecting to forge a friendship with the 5 guys I was paired up with, and I definitely didn’t expect to fall in love. My Dad may have prepared me for many things in life, but he never warned me that a war was no place for Love.
