Their blood lines were cursed. One was to eat the other only to be killed by being cut open from the inside by the eaten victim. Every 75 years this happens and no one knows how to break the curse. Wolf eats Girl, Girl cuts open from the inside wolf and lives. The cycle seems like it'll never end.

Jaelyn was told this her whole life and has avoided getting close to anyone but her grandmother. This changes as she becomes drawn to a young man that she found hurt near town. 

Sanoske was casted out of his pack because of the mark of the Big Bad Wolf on his back. The mark meant certain death in the near future. None of the wolves wanted him near them because they didn't want to risk the chance of being killed with him. His life as a lone wolf changes after a young girl  helps him recover from the wounds his pack gave him.
