Shadow has had depression for a while, since Maria died, but it has begun to cure itself. That is, until he met a hedgehog by the name of "Sonic." His fear to love another after Maria brought him down and tore him apart. At the same time, he fears the counterpart could never love him back, though that is not true. He is now on antidepressants and is in therapy, but you will have to see what happens in this very book.
