After attending a boarding school in the UK, she goes back to Portland to start college, there she lives with her brother Nick and his girlfriend Juliette. But when her aunt comes back in town, telling her about the misfortune of her family, Elena realises she may be different, but that it is not a bad thing. Together with her brother she finds herself in a world where the fairtytales has come true, and she has to find out the difference between the good ones and the bad ones
