Living at the center of one of the heaviest populated cities in the world for 5 years after a major outbreak leads to very few options to survive. Farming yields limited food in short time and with so many mouths to feed, it isn't sufficient. The Survivor's, as they call themselves, having turned a football stadium into their base, resort to scavenging with a select group of individuals. They collect food, medicine, tools, and anything of value to sustain the good of all. A dangerous role, but now necessary in this new world.
Morgan Cline, a young man, dealing with the grief of losing his mother and brother, strives to join this scavenging group because he has nothing else to lose. He believes he can make a difference for the community that protected and provided for him. A civilization he believes holds the last of humanity. But he learns that humanity may have already been lost and he questions the squad that accepted him. A squad put in the throng of carnage, desolation, and uncertainty.

His mother's drastic attitude change happened when Y/N was still in the boarding school. She lost multiple family members in a shootout in Macon, which made her depressed and crazy and wanting revenge but was helped by her husband. Instead of holding in her anger, she lashes out on the other people, hurting them, abusing them, and insulting them. 1 week before the dead started walking, him and his father moved to someplace in Georgia near the forest outside Savannah.
