Misery was never really appreciatedhow people would expect. When she was 13 her "father" raped her then left her, her sisters, and mother for dead. He took everything. Her mom blamed her for what happened so then sparked the abuse. In her freshman year she found out more about herself and her sexuality and music taste. (Any type of rock). Thus the bullying began.
Three years and many suicide attempts later, she decides to get out of her home town, and start a new life. How you may ask well friends you have to read it to find out

Katrina Mars has always had a special connection with her older sister, Keeley, who graduated the year Katrina was in eighth grade. This is all until she meets Sam Browman, a kid in school who is a lot like her: dresses "emo," listens to "emo" bands, sings and plays a lot of instruments, and goes through troubles at home.
