' He was closer now, almost to the stage. The lights were almost dazzlingly bright but he could just make out. . . Theresa Gray.
Their eyes met. And all the memories of 160 years before flooded back into his mind like a tidal wave set on destruction.
He began to scream, barely aware of the crowd of fans surrounding him on all sides as he attempted to push through.
"TESSA! TESSA! IT'S WILL, IT'S ME!"
Her eyes looked around for a moment, a dazed expression on her face. Hope lifted in his chest. If she heard him, if she knew-
He had reached the stage. He threw himself up the stage steps, caught only by the hand of a burly security guard, the only blockade between him and Tessa. The only blockade between him and the reason he had felt so wrong in this life. Him and the reason he thought he could still want to be alive-

She turned to face him, mic still strapped to her face, an exorbitant amount of glitter and makeup covering her that he had not been able to see from the crowd. It looked. . wrong.
She squinted the grey eyes he knew so well. "Excuse me. . . But. . . who are you?" '
