After the Second Wizarding War, Hermione Granger returns to Hogwarts, determined to finish her formal education. Ron doesn't believe she has prioritized properly, but Hermione is set of completing school before getting a job and settling down. This disagreement becomes a major weight on their relationship. Draco Malfoy has also returned to Hogwarts, seeking distance from his father. Things aren't much better at school, though, where his fellow Slytherins reject him and the rest of the student body detests him as a former death eater. Is it possible that these two former enemies will find comfort in each other's company? Do opposites really attract? And if so, are they any good for each other? Or will they do more damage than harm to each other?

Ron and Harry, getting ready to finish their Seventh Year and become Aurors, like they planned. After Hermione turns down Ron, for feeling wrong about being with him, she feels alone. Scared. Out of sorts. But she isn't the only one. Draco Malfoy sits at the other end of the Great Hall, by himself, surrounded by the other Slytherins, all avoiding him except for Theo Nott, Blaise Zabini, and Pansy Parkinson. The other death eaters. But Malfoy doesn't seem to notice, too busy staring into nothingness, with grief. Hermione cannot help but stare at the poor boy who everyone hates. Who she hates.
