Ten days after Clementine Colt and her brother Paris Colt herded their family's cattle to the depth of the dead men's land of the Great Plains, Clementine Colt returns home, without the cattle, and with her brother- who's delirious, and mumbling about ghost riders that rode the clouds- on the back of her horse. But Clementine keeps her mouth shut, refusing to talk about the horrific events that took place during the five days of their travel. No one can make her talk.
A few weeks later, the same happens to two brothers who tried to herd their cattle of bison into the Oklahoma's unchecked nature. But this time only one of them returns. Rumor flies through the villages about the tales of Carson Sawyer, who claims to have seen living corpses on flesh torn horses, thundering from the misty sky, who stole his older brother, while the ground shook and the sky trembled.
Tales of the ghost sightings in the south of Oklahoma make its way to the knowledge of John Winchester, a weathered man who hunts demons to revenge the death of his wife, and has trained his sons to continue this legacy. John Winchester, contemplating that there might be something supernatural at play in the little village of Saint Merope, drives with his eldest son Dean, in their old Chevy Impala, to the Great Plains of Oklahoma.
The road leads them to the family Colt, and John gives Dean the impossible task to make his peer Clementine Colt speak up about that doomed night, that put her brother onto his soon-to-be deathbed.
