Rakovina, i tímto slovem se vystihuje 18. letou Octavii Hessein . Je pravda, že je to smůla, a že tato smůla postila opravdu spostu lidí, ale musí se žít dál, dokud to jde. Žijí ve Švédsku, přesněji v Goteborgu. Její rodina je naštěstí docela i bohatá. Mamka ( Alisa ) pracuje v cestovní kanceláři a taťka ( Peter) zas jako právník, takže jsou na tom dobře. Octavia má ještě bratra, jmenuje se Sam a je mu 9 let. Ona tu rakovinu plic ani nevnímá, už 3 roky si na ní zvykala, ale s tím je konec. Nechce jen přežívat a doufat, že se něco změní, že bude mít nějaké přátele, kteří nebudou jen z nemocnice, že bude moct kdykoliv a s kýmkoliv ven a bez doprovodu dospěleho, že bude moct volně dýchat a netahat za sebou kyslíkovou láhev, ze které proudí kyslík po hadičkách do jejího nosu. S tím je konec, Octavia začne pořádně žít.
