As her heart kept racing, she heard stressed voices all around her, but one voice cut through all the rest of them. She heard Leonard exclaim, "Jim, get her the hell out of here," before his voice softened and asked, "Kate, are you there?"
All the noise around her faded, and she couldn't hear anyone but him. She replied softly, trying not to cry, "Yeah, Len, I'm here."
"Good," he replied, then said, "I love you, Kate. I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner, but I love you."
Kate choked back a sob and replied, "I love you too, Len." Of course Leonard McCoy would choose moments before he was about to die as the time to reveal his true feelings. Leonard loved her, and she was about to lose him.
