What use is ice or wind or fire when you can simply utter a single word and everyone around falls?

 Raila Felynis is a young woman living in the war torn country of Arien, a small continent where the Royal Family wastes the lives of innocent people with powers on a war they cannot win and nobody can remember how it started. Numerous people with powers and abilities live there, and they never return home from battle once they're sent off to fight for supposed glory.

Raised in near-poverty and making a living by being the best thief in town, Raila resents the Royal Family and their supposed enemies. 

But on her twentieth birthday, Raila is horrified when she finds out she has powers; the deadliest kind too. When a heist goes wrong, she is arrested for treason by the Royal Guards and put in prison with convicts and rebels.

 Along the way, Raila continues to learn who she really is by uncovering secrets that were supposed to remain that way. And with the war raining down on them all, they should have...
