Jenna, who lives on the west side of Chicago, has always been a good student for many years, but has faced many tough challenges in her childhood. At 20 years old, she still has the scars from her abusive father. With her mom dead, she only has her 13 year old brother Jacob, and their Aunt Penny, who lives all the way in Washington. Jenna wants to graduate as soon as possible and move out with her brother so that their father couldn't hurt them. On her way out of the city, she meets a rude boy named Liam, as well as the rest of his family. As time goes on, she starts to realize that Liam may not be so bad after all, but conflicts start to rise with her and her father. She soon finds out that she is on the run, and that time and her brother are slowly slipping away...
