To understand this poem, you must have an understanding of what shell shock is/was. Shelll shock is a term that came about in the time of WWI, meaning psychological disturbance caused by prolonged exposure to active warfare, triggered being by being exposed to loud noises. It's modern day term is PTSD, also being associated with many other symptoms. All Rights Reserved
