In 2033, an Augmented Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (ARMMORPG) called Fairy Tale Online (FTO) is released in Japan. With, SmartLink, a collar like-computer that stimulates the reality and communicate wirelessly with their brain, players can play the game using their own body in reality. Both the game and the SmartLink was created by Mikado Meiji
On August 27, Japan's communication was cut off from the outside world and all of the peoples in Japan, who, all of them owned the SmartLink was shocked to discover that they are trapped in the game-like reality and unable to do anything. Meiji appears and tells the peoples that they must beat Basilisk, a powerful dragon-like Monster King who will only appears when all of the hidden 100 Monster Boss is defeated, if they wish to be free. Those who suffer deaths in the game or forcibly remove the SmartLink will suffer real deaths.
