Leaving her to survive practically in her own, breaking the law to keep herself fed. Until a rich business man hires her to do his dirty work in the bunker. What would happen if emotions became socially unacceptable? If love made people nervous? If laughter drew too much attention? If sadness was hidden to survive? Selene spent her entire life growing up in this society, learning to look unaffected whilst everything explodes inside. Every reaction is observed, measured, and quietly judged before it becomes a problem. In this society, people are rewarded for being obedient, predictable and quiet. She is none of those things. When she begins speaking to someone she was never supposed to find, the conversations feel harmless at first. But soon, the person she finds speaks to the parts of her that the world has taught her to silence. Once tasting the possibility of genuine connection in a world like hers, there's no going back.
