♧ Sage was very experienced in the art of falling in love. She very clearly remembered Nick from second grade, who she shared matching bracelets with. At the time, she was positive that they would get married and live in a huge mansion with their hundreds of cats.

Ellie was her first official girlfriend during eighth grade year. The mansion seemed less realistic, and she couldn't fulfill her dreams of adopting a small army of cats because Ellie was allergic.

And of course, Sam, in her junior year of high school. They were Sage's neighbor when her family moved, and the two of them happened to have bedroom windows directly across from each other. Their first encounter with each other was when Sam had accidentally kicked a shoe into Sage's window when they saw a spider. Sage had loved their cat, and she was sure Sam was the one. And then senior year happened, and everything went to hell.

Obviously, none of her apparent soulmates worked out, or she wouldn't be condemning herself to a whole summer of looking after children in a wilderness summer camp, instead of her planned vacation with an ex who had dumped her on the last day of high school. Sage decided that true love would have to be put on hold until life balanced itself out.

And then she met Lora.
