"Manny!Help me! Mommy won't get up, I can't find Tyson and daddy isn't coming back!" My little sister Lily whinnied some where in the mass of running bodies smoke and screaming. Lily was sobbing for our mother to get up, to move, to help us. I was galloping for all I was worth to her voice, Tyson gripping my mane unable to talk, only to find her standing bedside our lifeless mothers body nudging her side, pulling her hair, stomping near her head to provoke a reaction. "Follow me! Leave the others behind!"he bellowed above us on the over looking cliff perched near the valley's only exit. Shouts of protest and agreement mingled together most flooding together to meet up with my father, protesters staying behind with the weak and fallen members of the heard. "Manny help!" Lily screamed again, "Mommy!! Wake up!" She stopped screaming then just started sobbing. The flames were growing closer and we needed to go I could smell the trucks, we needed to go. Now. "Lily I need you to shift back now! Mommy will be ok, I need you to shift back we need to hide!" I said already shifting back. She did as I said shifting back and curling up in a ball. I gathered her up in my arms cradling her in my chest running to the trees at the dip at the mountain where the flames haven't touched the land yet clutching Tyson hand in mine. They screamed when the helicopter flew over trying to fight the fire the sound terrified Lily. "Shhhhh, shhhhh. Lily baby it's ok. we're alright we're gonna be fine. They're gonna help us ok it's gonna be fine." I cooed to her covering her ears through the worst of it, kissing her forehead I rocked her back and forth finding the patch of secret clothes we hide for emergencies. I dressed my self then Tyson, then Lily, keeping her ears covered and kept both of them close. Protecting them. I was all they had left. Our way of life was gone and we were alone.

"What the hell are you?" I screamed. The more I scooted away towards the darkness, the more their eyes glowed. I hyperventilated as they grew nearer and nearer. "Calm down, human. Come quietly and we might not kill you." I stumbled to my feet and ran. I didn't make it far before I was swiped off my feet. My body painfully hit the ground and I gasped for air. My aching body screamed at me to get up. I began to drag myself away. Even if I didn't make it, at least I tried. I was lifted and easily thrown into a tree. The force vibrated through my body. I coughed up blood as I landed. I lay on my stomach, unable to move. Is this how everything ends? Is this how I die? I can't die here. A foot stomped itself onto my back. An empty, breathless scream came out of me. "You stupid human. What a lowlife. I changed my mind. Who wants worthless trash like you? Die quickly, will you?" The pressure intensified by the second. I screamed in pain. No. No. No. I was about to give up on hope. A voice boomed through the forest. It was full of anger, dominance, and blood-thirst. It sent shivers down every inch of my body. "Get off my mate." Disclaimer: there will be scenes that may not be suitable for a young audience. Chapters will be labeled if so, but read at your own risk.
