College, appearing as a gateway to freedom for most. For others, such as our dear friend, is a gateway to legitimate hell. Parents sometimes choosing the pathway for you in order for their child to gain more friends or to discover themselves in a way. Mariana, one our my closest friends until the end, recent high school graduate, weird, somewhat smart, and a victim of social anxiety.
What more could you want in a friend?
Long story short, she's leaving me. I meant us, Autumn and myself. At the age we're all currently at greets the great pathway of more school...yay. Tears will be shed, for other than more work, with the knowledge that the three of us will not all remain in close proximity of each other. Mariana being unlucky enough to be the only one separated, since her parents came to the conclusion that she needs to be more social, nevertheless that we aren't the best influences on their child.
Autumn and I hardly took any time at all before seeing how all of this will backfire in the future, us practically being the only companions Mariana has ever had. It's like putting a zoo animal out in the wild, sheltered for such an extended amount of time, most likely going to die in less than a week when they can no longer hide...you kind of see the problem in that. Regarding the future college life, she was required to have a dorm throughout the time she was attending, Mariana had a choice in other matters. The first choice she made once entering the responsibility of an adult, possibly being the reason why she's quiet when a decision comes into play. You'll see why later on.
