Pontmercy and all the others are dead, except for Enjolras and Grantaire. Grantaire gave up and left the barricade early, and Enjolras was wearing Valjean's army uniform, giving him camouflage.

Grantaire makes a drunken advance, Enjolras scorns him but discovers something about himself in the process. Despite this, they continue forward. Hurt/Comfort ensues as Enjolras works through his past all while still pledging himself to the Revolution. Grantaire grapples with feelings of his own.
