She won't let her tread into the town alone, as she wants to protect Winnie and keep her safe, making sure she behaves and doesn't step out of line. Winnie hates feeling trapped and having to go everywhere with her Mother, or take a private horse and cart to school, that takes her straight there and back everyday. She feels like a prisoner.
