Set in modern-day Paris, the series focuses on a teenaged junior high school girl, Antoinette Dupain-Cheng, her twin sister Marionette Dupain-Cheng, and their classmate, Adrien Agreste. When evil arises in Paris, Antoinette transforms into Dragonfly, Marinette transforms into Ladybug, and Adrien transforms into Chat Noir. However, neither know each other's secret identities: Antoinette doesn't realise that her partner and crush Chat Noir is her best friend Adrien, Marinette doesn't realise that her school crush, Adrien, is Chat Noir and Chat Noir doesn't know that his partner and crush, Ladybug, is actually Marinette. Together, they're a crime-fighting trio who protect Paris against the mysterious villain, Hawk Moth and his akuma.
