"Did you think it was brave? Or did you think it was necessary? To defy me." His words felt like a knife twisting in her gut and his silver eyes drunk in her fear at his leisure.
"Oh no, let me guess, you wanted to hold onto that 'humanity' of yours for just a little longer?" He scoffed and the colour drained from her face. He bent down slowly, tangling his fingers within her hair before he yanked her forwards, craning her neck to meet his glare.
She withheld the shriek that threatened to escape from her. Eyes now locked, she watched in horror as his irises began to cloud over.
"Your soul is mine." He let the hair fall loosely across her face, chuckling low into her ears. "And it's as black as my own." A shudder ran down her spine.
"Never forget that you belong to me." She felt numbed, dizzied, like someone had just dodged her best right hook and had been knocked off balance. Even after everything, the feeling was unfamiliar to her. He leant his face in closer, purposely letting his fangs fall over his bottom lip.
"Forget it, and you may not be the one who suffers the consequences of it."
