After being locked up, and judged all her life Mercy Archer finally gets a chance to start over on the ground, but that doesn't seem to be as easy as she thought. Everyone has heard of the terrible crime she committed, but there is one boy that doesn't seem to be faced by it, John Murphy. They are both two misunderstood people that according to everyone else did terrible things, but did anyone ever stop to listen to the reasons behind their actions? Venus Bartone is one of the 100, the people that were put into the skybox because they were too young to be executed. She was put there because her knowledge on building weapons out of next to nothing was too "dangerous". After being told that she was a danger to the remainder of mankind for almost nine years, she started to believe it. And she hated it. But when her abilities are needed on the ground, she realizes that what she knows and is able to do is not a sin, it's a gift. After making a certain young man a knife, she becomes closer with the boy that everyone seems to be afraid of. They had more in common than most people. However, she soon begins to realize that Murphy might be her downfall, but could also be her savior. She just doesn't care. The only problem is that everyone has a skeleton in the closet, a demon that hides under the bed waiting to destroy anything in it's path. And both Murphy and Venus have some of the darkest demons known to man.

The Ark was dying, its Oxygen supply running out. With little options left the council decides to make a hasty decision to send the prisoners from skybox to the Earth's surface. Not only would sending the hundred give them time to fix the oxygen, but to see if the ground could once again be called home. When the hundred land on Earth they find much more than they bargained for. Not only do they discover the safety of the air but that they were far from alone. There were grounders, survivors from the bombs, and the living dead. Will the delinquents survive alone with the walking dead? Or will a blonde stranger from the ground lead them to safety?
