the war ended and all students of the seventh year get another year at hogwarts, since they couldn't learn much because of the war. Draco is avoiding everyone, locking himself alone in his room and often goes outside alone. Harry tries to keep up his social life, but often just wants to escape when everyone is asking questions about the war again. They meet in the middle.

Eighth Year (Drarry Fanfic)
The survivors of the Second Wizarding War return to Hogwarts after a summer of rebuilding and healing. Harry had been offered a position for Auror Training, which he quickly declined in favor of one final year with his friends at Hogwarts. He hoped that the year would bring nothing but normalcy and quiet as he begins to move on. Draco had been pardoned after Harry Potter testified in his and his mother's defense during the Trials. "I don't think your analogy there is quite correct. You see spiders tend to like flies." He stands up, takes another bite of his half eaten toast and walks towards the archway that she's sitting nearest to. Hermione finds herself out of place after the war. Really out of place. ~The students of Hogwarts have returned for their Seventh Year that they were unable to attend, a year prior. Ron and Harry, getting ready to finish their Seventh Year and become Aurors, like they planned. After Hermione turns down Ron, for feeling wrong about being with him, she feels alone. Scared. Out of sorts. But she isn't the only one. Draco Malfoy sits at the other end of the Great Hall, by himself, surrounded by the other Slytherins, all avoiding him except for Theo Nott, Blaise Zabini, and Pansy Parkinson. The other death eaters. But Malfoy doesn't seem to notice, too busy staring into nothingness, with grief. Hermione cannot help but stare at the poor boy who everyone hates. Who she hates. But she doesn't feel that way when she's looking at him. All of a sudden she realizes his composure has broken, staring back at her.~ Will she invite in the enemy of her childhood? Will she see past it, as he is the only one who understands the pain she's enduring?
