"When you're a high school student, it's one thing, being a part of a cover band, that's another thing, but meeting a new transfer student which leads to something very life changing, that is definitely a whole different thing."

"Here in Sonorous, listening to or playing music is a whole lot better than unbearable silence and unwanted noise, remember that."
-Garth Samuel Davidson

Garth Davidson was typically known as the guy with headphones at school by almost every student he came across or passed by, or called by his middle name, Samuel, Sammy, or Sam, by his friends/band mates; he would put his headphones on and play music that caught his interest, mostly songs by Metallica, thanks to his cover band, Sonorous. He'd listen to music whenever he no longer stood the silence, when he hears noise he couldn't stand, or when it's lunchtime; which is quiet, despite being with his friends. One day, his English and Music class got a transfer student who sat beside him in English and is part of the orchestra section, and his world was no longer as silent when he found out a something about himself that he had forgotten that his parents kept a secret at all costs for the sake of his safety. Would he accept this secret and the heart the new student offers him, or would they be part of what he dubs as unwanted noise?

Sydney didn't have much, but that was fine with her. She didn't need much. Growing up on the Washington coast in a lonely beach town, working quietly behind the scenes was what she was good at. Living on the beach was much less glamorous than most people imagine. Her home was a beat up old Winnebago that she had shared with her father until he passed. Her father had been a detached parent. He loved his daughter of course, but he was by no means an affectionate man. She had grown up fending for herself, working backstage at a bar that hosted live bands using a fake ID. After the death of her father she saw an ad for a guitar technician for a local Seattle band. A love of rock and roll had been the one thing that her and her dad had in common. Selling everything that she didn't need she packed up her pickup truck and travelled north to the city, leaving the sleepy town in her rear view mirror. She didn't expect to embark on what would become the adventure of a lifetime. For someone who had hardly left the town she grew up in, the opportunity to get paid to travel the country and listen to great music was a dream come true. The band became her family, and life on the road was a perfect fit for her. Chris Cornell instantly became Sydney's best friend in the whole world. They were in love, that was plain as day to anyone who paid attention. Yet, sometimes love isn't as simple as it should be. Sometimes, love hurts. Warning: This book covers potentially triggering subjects such as depression, suicidal ideation, domestic abuse, sexual assault, poverty and drug use.
