"I think you will have a lovely time Juliet." said captain Riley. "That's miss Mason to you." I spat as I gracefully gathered myself and walked to the carriage. Just when my father and Riley thought I was out of earshot they began to quietly talk. "I'm sorry captain. It's just that she's still recovering from her mothers death. It was only a year ago and I said something about her mother that upset her this morning." Said my father. "Governor please. I remember seeing Juliet- I mean miss Mason- with her mother all the time. They were always happy and laughing together." Said Riley. "I just wish things were still like that. The house has been so quiet since Meg passed. That's why I wanted her to take you up on your offer. Maybe it would nudge her a little back into her own self again." Said my father. "I know how you must be feeling. Tell you what. Why don't we rig Juliet's horse up to the carriage so she'd have another friendly face along for the ride." Said Riley. "I think Juliet would absolutely love that idea." Answered my father. I heard everything. And just thinking about being pitied made me want to scream.
